UT Scan's Computer System
A crucial component in UT Scan's AUT weld equipment testing package is its industrial-grade, high-speed computer which performs the AUT data acquisition and houses the power supplies for the complete system. UT Scan's software – Setup Wizard and PlusWeld – present the ultrasonic testing data in easy to understand displays and allows the operator to view data in different modes:
- Raw data (stacked A scans)
- Strip chart
- Combination of raw data and strip chart
All AUT testing procedures, techniques and calibration blocks are computer- generated in 3D and are fully integrated for daily weld testing duties. The weld testing procedure is also greatly enhanced through the leading PlusWeld software-driven process by delivering a quicker deployment and execution of the project.
The system also allows the operator to view the gathered signals on an up to 500% increased screen height in order to interpret large reflections above the 100% screen height.
Software defect interpretation is built into the system to assist the operator in complying with the governing codes and specifications.

UT Scan's Setup Wizard
The Setup Wizard is intelligent software that is used to set up the project with ease. In the first stage, all project information is loaded into the Setup Wizard. Secondly, the calibration block design and the AUT technique are created by filling in the predefined questionnaire.

When completed, Setup Wizard creates the following:
- Drawings of all calibration blocks, with zones and reflectors
- Files with all parameters needed to construct the calibration blocks with CNC precision machining
- All parameters are loaded from the selected transducers into the UT setup file
- Setup file is created with the calibration block serial number as the file name
- UT Scan system is ready to proceed
